We took part in Unoconcinco 2026: weaving networks for a more sustainable food system

On 18 June, we had the opportunity to take part in the third edition of Unoconcinco, Encuentros de la Alimentación Sostenible, an initiative promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. The event brought together, at Infinito Delicias in Madrid, organisations, cooperatives, social economy entities, researchers, public administrations and other actors committed to transforming our food system.

At the San Crispín Consumer Cooperative, we value this experience very positively. Beyond the talks and debates, the most enriching aspect was the chance to meet people and projects which, from different territories and realities, share concerns and goals very similar to our own.

We would like to express our gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the fanzine of legume-based recipes that was given to each attendee during the event. We contributed as the leading organisation of the Teixint Xarxes project, which we are carrying out in Menorca, with a traditional Menorcan recipe: faves ofegades, or stewed broad beans.

During the event, we had the chance to discover inspiring initiatives linked to agroecological production, short supply chains, healthy eating, food justice and the social economy. These meeting spaces remind us that we are not alone and that many organisations are working to build real alternatives to the dominant models of production and consumption.

We return from Unoconcinco with new ideas, contacts and motivation to keep moving forward. We have discovered projects with which we feel a strong affinity and with which we hope to stay in touch in the future, exploring possible collaborations and spaces for mutual learning.

Once again, we would like to thank the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation for the careful and original organisation of such a necessary event, as well as all the people and organisations that shared their knowledge, concerns and experiences. We believe that these meeting spaces are fundamental to continue building a food transition that places people and territories at the centre.

We will continue working from our cooperative to contribute, from Menorca and for Menorca, to this shared goal.
