The Alliance for an Agroecological Menorca is organising a Project Definition Workshop next Thursday, 19 February, at CentreBit Menorca (Av. des Camp Verd, 4, Alaior), with the aim of strengthening and expanding the participatory process launched a year ago. The event is open to all individuals and organisations wishing to become involved in transforming Menorca’s agricultural sector towards a more sustainable, fair and territorially rooted model.
After a first year driven by a small core group, the Alliance believes the time has come to grow its community and incorporate new perspectives and energies. The agroecological transition —understood as the integration of agricultural production and nature conservation— can only move forward through shared and collective effort.
A day of shared work, reflection and action
This second workshop is conceived as a key milestone to broaden participation, establish common priorities for the next two years and activate working groups focused on developing concrete projects.
Throughout the meeting, participants will work collaboratively to define the Alliance’s short- and medium-term strategic lines and to shape new transformative initiatives and actions.
One year on the path towards agroecological transition
The process launched in 2025 has already begun to materialise in various tools and projects that consolidate the Alliance’s trajectory:
The Alliance’s declaration, open to new signatories, “in favour of a sustainable, resilient agri-food model that preserves the natural and cultural values of our territory.”
The website menorcaagroecologica.org.
The production of an informative video and leaflet.
An innovative and pioneering project to improve soil fertility involving 15 Menorcan farms of diverse typologies for at least two years.
An initiative already underway: the feasibility study for an Agroecological Distribution Centre (CAD).
The Alliance for an Agroecological Menorca brings together organisations committed to evolving the island’s agricultural sector from an environmentally responsible, economically viable and socially just perspective. Given the scale of the challenge involved in transforming an entire productive sector, the Alliance firmly supports strengthening joint work and opening the project to all individuals and groups interested in the future of Menorca’s countryside.
Now is the time to join and actively participate in this collective process!
