This summer, San Crispín has strengthened its commitment to fruit and vegetables grown in Menorca, giving even greater visibility in our stores to the farmers, market gardens and small local farms we work with throughout the year.
We believe in food that is closely connected to the land, based on local sourcing, seasonality and product quality. That is why we also want to introduce you to the stories and people behind many of the fruits and vegetables you find in our stores every day.
🍈 Hort de Son Trèmol
Located on the road between Es Migjorn and Alaior, Hort de Son Trèmol is an organic farm mainly devoted to growing fruit trees, including several traditional Menorcan varieties.
The farm is organically certified and sells its produce without intermediaries. Apricots, persimmons, mandarins, peaches, nectarines, loquats, pears, apples, plums, oranges and other citrus fruits are all part of a production cycle shaped by the seasons.
🍓 Verger des Valencià — Es Vergeret de Sant Joan
Linked to Alcaufar Nou and managed by Verdures Moliner SCP, Verger des Valencià has become particularly well known in recent years for its production of Menorcan strawberries, grown both outdoors and in greenhouses.
The farm also produces a range of vegetables and seasonal tomato varieties throughout the year.
🍉 Son Magnà
In the Barranc des Rellotge, in Alaior, we find Son Magnà, a family-run farm where Llorenç Caules represents the third generation devoted to caring for its fruit trees.
For more than three decades, the family has been producing fruit in Menorca, supplying various establishments across the island, including our San Crispín stores.
🌱 BioBarranc
BioBarranc is an organic farming project located in an area of particular environmental value. The farm has more than 6,000 fruit trees and certified organic production.
Its approach focuses on biodiversity, sustainability and farming practices that respect the environment, closely linked to the landscape and the values of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve.
🥬 Hort de Torrellissà / Torrellisà Nou
In the Cala en Porter ravine, one of Menorca’s areas traditionally associated with horticultural production, brothers Javi and Ismael Mascaró manage several farms.
Together, these farms produce more than 33 tonnes of seasonal fruit and vegetables each year. Part of this produce is delivered directly to San Crispín and to other small retailers in eastern Menorca.
From Menorca’s fields to our stores
At San Crispín, we want you to know where the food you buy comes from. That is why, whenever seasonality and availability allow, we prioritise fresh fruit and vegetables grown in Menorca, with their origin clearly identified.
Choosing local produce means enjoying food that is fresher, closer to home and in season, while also supporting Menorca’s farmers, helping to keep the island’s countryside alive, reducing transport and ensuring that more of the value generated remains within the local economy.
Because at San Crispín, supporting local produce is not a trend.
It is a way of understanding Menorca.
