Farmers’ Gathering at San Crispín

Last week, the Cooking Classroom of the San Crispín Cooperative in Alaior was filled with farmers eager to learn, share, and innovate. It was the first public presentation of the FSTP —the call aimed at selecting 15 participating farms within the European project GOV4ALL— and the atmosphere made clear that agroecological transformation is already underway and that the sector is ready to take a step forward.

The event, presented by GOB Menorca and featuring the participation of San Crispín, Räyen Soluciones Agronómicas and the University of Valencia, served to explain the initiative and the benefits available to the farms that apply. Attendees received the guidelines and all necessary documentation, and now have until 13 February 2026 to submit their applications and aspire to turn their farm into a testing, innovation and soil-regeneration site.

During the meeting, regenerative agriculture techniques that may be applied were explained clearly. These included managed grazing, cover crops, direct seeding, composting, biofertilisers, wool mulching and improved water management, among many other practices that can enhance soil fertility and save resources. The University of Valencia will carry out analyses and scientific monitoring to evaluate the results, and selected farms will receive €5,000 per year for two years as compensation for the time and effort invested.

The response to the call was very positive, with strong participation and many questions showing genuine interest and a desire to advance towards more resilient farming. This first session is only the beginning, and the next meeting will take place on 4 February 2026, again at San Crispín’s Cooking Classroom, to continue deepening the proposed practices and support the sector in this new stage.

Menorca is sowing the future of its soil, and every farmer who joins contributes to a more vibrant, sustainable and innovative model. GOV4ALL is not just a project: it is an invitation to do things differently, and the door is already open.
