Collaboration between Living Labs: Menorca and AlVelAl connect regenerative producers and consumers

Within the framework of the European project GOV4ALL, Living Labs continue to generate synergies between territories to promote more resilient and regenerative agricultural models. A recent example of this collaboration has taken shape between the Menorca Living Lab and the Altiplano Estepario Living Lab, located respectively in Menorca and in southeastern Spain.

Two of the entities participating in these innovation labs have initiated a collaborative relationship that directly connects regenerative producers with committed consumers. The San Crispín consumer cooperative, based in Alaior, has begun to incorporate organic and regenerative products from Almendrehesa into its store, an initiative developed within the territory of the AlVelAl association.

This first commercial exchange includes a selection of products from farms applying regenerative practices, including wines, nuts, olive oil and flours. All of them come from agricultural systems actively working to improve soil health, increase biodiversity and strengthen the resilience of Mediterranean landscapes in the face of challenges such as drought or soil degradation.

The Almendrehesa project was created precisely with this goal: to promote agriculture that not only reduces impacts but actively contributes to restoring agricultural ecosystems. Through practices such as compost use, maintaining plant cover or improving water management, participating farmers work to regenerate soil fertility and enhance the long-term sustainability of their farms.

The collaboration with San Crispín now makes it possible to bring these products closer to consumers in Menorca, creating a bridge between Mediterranean territories that share similar challenges in terms of climate, landscape and agriculture.

Beyond product commercialization, this initiative also aims to generate learning within the GOV4ALL project. In the coming months, feedback will be collected from cooperative members and consumers to assess how these regenerative products are perceived and how their turnover evolves at the point of sale.

This exchange of experiences between Living Labs reflects one of the project’s key objectives: to demonstrate that the transition towards regenerative agriculture depends not only on innovative farming practices, but also on new relationships between producers, distributors and consumers.

Through initiatives like this, the Living Labs of the GOV4ALL project continue exploring how to connect territories, strengthen rural economies and foster more sustainable food systems across Europe.
